Chris has been a member of Slipknot since 1998. He was a percussionist and backing vocalist. A couple of days ago news broke the had filed a lawsuit against the band for withholding merch sale income that was obtained by selling through not approved channels.
Chris has yet to speak publicly about the lawsuit or his departure from Slipknot. The band made an official statement on their website about these events.
Slipknot’s focus is making album #6, and our upcoming shows around the world, our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot. We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life,” Slipknot continued. “Long e are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life,” Slipknot continued. “Long live the Knot.”

Because we have yet to get a statement from Chris, it really hard to judge the situation. With so many band members things can get rather complicated. I don't think he would have felt the need to file a lawsuit if full easy access to all the financial documents for Slipknot. This may be all caused by a lack of communication between members or between their accountant. I'm sure this wasn't a rash decision, there has to be some proof of it somewhere or something that looked "fishy." I don't think the rest of Slipknot is guilty of wrong doing. I would be the fault on management or another person handling income for the band.
What do you think happened? Do you think he will be returning to Slipknot or going the way of Joey? 🤘
