Is Trap Country on the Rise?

Billy Ray Cyrus and up and coming rapper Lil Nas X may have just created a genre of their own. After Lil Nas X's single, "Old Town Road" was booted from the country billboard charts for "not being country enough," Billy Ray Cyrus decided he had to step in and get it back to it's rightful place.

In the now remixed song, Cyrus sings his own verse about riding in sports cars and playing guitar. While Cyrus's daughter, Miley Cyrus, dabbled in the hip-hop scene a few years, Cryus never followed suit until now. Within hours of "Old Town Road's" new release, it went viral, inciting memes from many. Twitter users from all over and fans joke about the resurrection of the "boot, scoot, and boogie," and how Cyrus came into the studio on a horse with flames behind him.

Even though this is an unlikely duo, the song is actually good. The verses aren't bad, especially Cryus's, who managed to stay authentic to his country roots even in a trap beat dynamic. "Old Town Road" reentered the Billboard Hot 100 Charts at number 15 and seems to keep climbing. Is this the change country music is heading towards or is this the only country-trap song we'll ever hear?
