The $100 Mixtape

Blood and Crips. Westside and Eastside. To an untrained eye gang violence is at an all time high. In the darkness rose one, now finally deceased, rapper who preached against gang violence and love for all. Who was that man? Nipsey Hustle. Nipsey changed the game and his influence will be felt for a long time.

Nipsey has been making music for an incredibly long time. He was a mistake favorite in the late 2000’s with his mistakes “Slauson Boy” (2005), “Bullets Ain’t Got No Name” and “The Marathon”. This was the start of Nipsey’s career. After The Marathon, he released his mixtape “Crenshaw” which gained national attention. The question is why? Being the businessman that Nispey was, Nipsey sold his mixtape for $100. This album had a long of features and unsurprisingly it made its way onto the Billboard 40. In 2016, Nipsey teamed up with Blood rapper, YG for an anti-Trump anthem called “F*** Donald Trump”. This song peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/RnB charts. Nipsey’s next big accomplishment would come with his newest album “Victory Lap”. This album debuted Top 5 in the Billboard 100 and was nominated for best rap album at the 61st Grammy’s. Once Nipsey was gunned down all his mixtapes and Victory Lap placed in the Billboard Top 100.

His accomplishments speak for themselves but to truly get an idea of how much impact Nipsey had, here are the top 10 quotes from him.
